Yes, real questions, not just filler
1. What makes this an “Anti-Handbook”?
Because it’s not a list of techniques, it’s a guide to rethinking how you train. It’s a framework for developing your game that is focused on skill acquisition and live practice.
2. Why should I care about ecological dynamics?
Because it explains how people actually learn. It’s the science behind what Greg Souders and other modern coaches are proving works on the mat. It has been applied to most professional sports and collegiate-level sports and is a part of most winning programs.
3. Isn’t the whole ecological debate kind of toxic online right now?
Exactly. That’s why this book exists. Instead of picking sides, I translate the core ideas so you can stop arguing and start training better. You don’t need a PhD or a YouTube feud, you just need a framework that works on the mats.
4. Who is this for, really?
For thinking grapplers. The ones who feel there’s something missing between what they’re told to do and what actually works. Whether you’re a blue belt trying to train smarter or a coach tired of seeing your students stagnate, this book will make your whole approach click.
Hello! My name is Ryan, and I’m a lifelong learner who loves Jiu-Jitsu, teaching, and exploring how people actually learn. After years of stagnation and injuries on the mats, I discovered the ecological dynamics approach and never looked back.
My background in education, from teaching middle schoolers to building special ed curriculum, pushed me to rethink how skill is taught and developed. What started as curiosity became an obsession to make Jiu-Jitsu training truly effective.
I’m on a mission to elevate the sport of Jiu-Jitsu on both a technical and cultural level, to legitimize it as a modern sport while promoting smarter training that reduces long-term injuries.
This book is for curious students, thoughtful coaches, and anyone ready to stop memorizing and start learning.
